Everyone deserves a little happiness - especially you!
Happiness doesn't have to be the elusive thing we forever seem to be chasing. In fact, it can be as easy as simply making a decision - right now - to be happy. Sound crazy? Try it. Make a conscious effort to think positive thoughts as often as possible, and do more of the things that make you feel good. Hardly rocket science is it?!

Be your own best friend
Next time you put yourself down, ask yourself: "Would I let someone speak like that to my best friend?" Think about it: we're the first to help and praise others, yet rarely think twice about treating ourselves with the same love and attention. Be nice to yourself.

It's you again!
"Don't be afraid to focus on yourself. People often feel guilty about the concept of concentrating on what they really want, but it's key to finding fulfillment and consequently happiness. Write down the things you'd like to change to make you happier. A list can genuinely help clarify - and achieve - what it is you truly desire," says Stephanie Brookes, author of Some Silent Hero.

Ask, and you just might get
Once you're clear about what you want and need, it's important you go ahead and ask for it. "You'll be surprised how often you'll receive help. This may seem a selfish way to achieve happiness but remember - a happy and fulfilled you will automatically have a positive effect on everyone around you," says Stephanie, adding: "Try not to over-analyse your progress. Once you know what changes you need to make to be happier, take one step at a time. A slow but gradual journey is realistic and you'll achieve your dreams without noticing!"

Think positive
We're bombarded with bad news all day long. Redress the balance by focusing on what's good in your life - big, small and tiny. Make a list, if you like. And be grateful for everything on it. A little thanks can make a big difference to your wellbeing. It's impossible to express genuine gratitude and not feel good.

Go with the flow
It may sound a bit hippyish, but truly happy people have learnt to accept what life brings them rather than fight problems at every turn (which is exhausting!). "Acceptance is the key to peace of mind - and peace of mind is a lot closer to happiness than struggle," argues leading life coach Tatu Cutillas, who's helped several A-list celebrities on their way to stardom.
