Fancy sprucing things up a bit? Of course you do, which is why these ideas and tips should help brighten up your day.
Life's little luxuries
While some people may well dream about winning the lottery or enjoying a celebrity lifestyle most of us are a contented lot and find that it is the small things in life that bring us most pleasure and can make us feel that little bit special.
Whether your idea of luxury is to melt away in a glorious smelling, deep warm bubble bath or to buy yourself a lovely pair of silk stockings, the important thing to remember is to actually take the time to treat yourself, your family or your home in the first place.
How we regard luxuries in entirely subjective - if you're at home a lot you may really appreciate the luxury of a night on the town with your girlfriends away from the demands of the family, and if you are busy working there's nothing better than putting your feet up with a good book and a glass of beautifully chilled wine to make you feel you are pampering yourself. Here are a few ideas and tips that should brighten up your day and make you feel like a million dollars:
Go and buy a bunch of your favourite flowers. Fresh flowers and houseplants make a house feel loved and will lift your spirits.
Treat yourself to a sexy piece of lingerie. You might not be the only one enjoying the moment!
If you're having trouble sleeping change the bedclothes. There's nothing more luxurious that freshly-laundered sheets. Try washing them in Bold 2in1 Crushed Silk & Jasmine for an extra luxurious feel and a beautiful clean, fresh smell. Perfect.
Make a display of your favourite family photographs. It's important to have the people you care for around you and it shows that you love them too.
Save for a monthly facial for an instant pick-me-up.
Line a row of scented tea-lights along the side of the bath. You can create your very own spa and the flickering light will help calm you down after a stressful day.
Go for a free makeover in a department store. You don't have to buy any of the products if you don't want to, but you'll come away looking fantastic and a new lipstick isn't going to break the bank.
Visit a friend for coffee. If you've got a niggling worry or concern it's a luxury to be able to share the burden with someone else. A trouble halved, as they say!
Learn how to download all your favourite tracks to your computer, usually for less than £1 each and play all your best golden oldies on your way to the supermarket or picking up the kids from school.
Get a good night's sleep - possibly the cheapest and easiest way to wake up feeling like a million dollars!
Get everyone in the party mood with this festive cocktail, developed by the Atlantic Bar's cocktail mixologist Dick Bradsell. It'll soon have everyone dancing!
