Magic Moments

It's the small things in life that make it special. Cherish those magical moments with family and friends and your life will feel richer and more rewarding for it.

Take a tip from your children and find magic in the simplest things.

Childhood can be such a magical time when extraordinary things happen, like the presents that Santa delivers down the chimney or the Tooth Fairy who takes away our first teeth when we're miles away in a deep sleep. But even everyday events, like making mud pies or transforming a sheet and two chairs into a space ship can seem magical to a young child. So when we get older it's important to treasure those extra-special magical moments that happen to us now, that can lift an otherwise ordinary day and touch our hearts and give us a warm glow.

Many happy childhood memories are based around the summer holidays and lovely sunny days can certainly make a difference to our spirits. Try and make the most of the sunshine and organise a family picnic, alongside a river, perhaps, or down at the coast. You don't need to go to a huge amount of trouble with the food. Just enjoying the freedom of being out in the fresh air and with those you love can turn an ordinary meal into a banquet. Children love eating with their hands so lots of sandwiches, some cold cocktail sausages, cheese and plenty to drink to stop any dehydration and you're ready to go. What could be simpler? And even if you go to the trouble of a summer party in the garden you can enjoy the moment all the more by letting Fair Active Bust works its magic on your dishes leaving you to enjoy the sunshine.

We all lead such busy lives that we often use work as an excuse not to get together with friends and families. But it is those special times being with those we are closest to that makes all the difference to our lives. Try scheduling get-togethers with people you really care about in the way you arrange the rest of your life – a visit to the doctors, a meeting at work. If you make the effort you will benefit hugely from seeing more of family and your close girlfriends. Commit to arrangements and encourage them to do the same.

Why not take a notebook to bed and write down ten things that happened to you today that made you feel good. It could be the smallest thing, like the five minutes you enjoyed that cup of tea before the kids came bounding in from school or the joke you heard on the radio that made you laugh out loud. As you list them down you may be surprised to see how many more good things happened to you than your realised and it may help you appreciate what you already have in your life that is magical and special.

So rather than facing life wishing for more, try and enjoy the moment and see something great in the simplest things – just like you did when you were young. Think about your son's goal – or near miss – at his first school match! Or remember the time you were feeling ill and your friends came to the rescue. Cherish those magical times and your life will seem richer for it.
